A Glimpse Into Our New Space

I’m sitting on the balcony of our hotel in Miami watching the boats go by as I write this post and it’s something I could easily get used to! If I only had my pups next to me…but I suppose I can live without them for a few days!

When we get home we are finally moving back into our bedroom and after the headache of it all, I want it to be perfect! I’ve purged so much and taken load after load to the thrift store and now…I’m left with empty shelves in the bookcases and a huge bathroom that’s pretty much void of color. I really want to hang beautiful original art that will stand out against the white walls and I’m also looking for the perfect rug.

The bedroom is painted a beautiful yellow and the walls in my closet are also yellow, but much lighter. I’ve ordered wallpaper to go on the ceiling in the closet and feeling really great about that space. I haven’t chosen towel bars, etc., yet because I wanted to wait and see the space but I’ll do that next week.

The last little details are so important and I’m going slowly to make sure I get it right. The bookshelves in the bedroom are a dark taupe with a brushed gold wallpaper behind the shelves. I’m completely redoing the decorative elements on the shelves so everything will match the room. I’ve ordered a few books and definitely have a few on my wish list…I want books that I’ll be inspired by and also I want them to be beautiful.

The collage below is filled with a few things that I’ve ordered for our bedroom.

//Milan Chic Book//Veuve Clicquot Book//Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir (my forever favorite scent)//Acrylic Tray//Chardonnay Lip Oil//Murano Glass Bowl//Duvet//Candles (this candle comes in many different scents so be sure to scroll down to see the all)//

At this point, I’m so enjoying looking at a big completed space with more light that I could have imagined. We installed two skylights in the ceiling and a huge palladian window. There are also three other windows that add even more light. Right now, I have an orchid in my closet, candles and a bar cart in the bathroom. I’m waiting on new pulls for the drawers because the ones I ordered originally weren’t quite right. I also put my huge Buddha on the counter and draped him with jewels…he’s fabulous there!

I never realized what a process it all would be and I’ve learned so much! If anyone needs a general contractor…call me (haha)! Below, I’m sharing a picture of the bar cart and my Buddha!

It's hydrangea season and I’ll be cutting them and putting them all over the house until they stop blooming. They look so pretty on the bar cart. The exact bar cart I ordered is linked in the collage below. It was fairly easy to assemble and it’s the perfect size. I love having it beside the bathtub to hold essentials and it provides a nice decorative element. I’m even thinking of ordering another one to take to the beach this summer.

I found this Buddha at a boutique in Blowing Rock, North Carolina years ago and knew I had to have him. He was actually draped with jewelry and I’ve always wanted to drape him again…so here he is in all his glory! It’s such a fun and interesting way to display some of my longer necklaces!

The bar cart in the collage is large enough to hold bath essentials and flowers. I think it’s such a great way to display pretty bath oils, sponges, etc. I purchased the Savon Marseille Grapefruit hand soap for my side of the bathroom and the Quay handsoap for Baldy.

Skipping around a little bit…below are clothing items that I’ve ordered and really like. The sweatpants are beyond soft and wash well (I let the air dry and then lightly iron them). I love the sweatpants with the cute sandals and a cropped sweatshirt. The dress is really cute and the color is exactly as it appears in the photo. The shoes haven’t actually arrived yet, but I have high hopes that the color is right because together, they’ll make such a cute outfit! I’ve been wanting some jelly shoes and love these clear ones to wear to the pool. I live in my sweatshirts when I’m home, even in the summer because it can be cold inside and this yellow one is such a beautiful color. The little polo sweater makes an easy outfit paired with high waisted flare jeans and sandals.

And because I’m in Miami and wishing I had done a better job with my swim attire, I’ve added these things to my cart. The swimsuits aren’t inexpensive, but also not outrageous. I would rather get a quality swimsuit that will last a couple of seasons and I love the cut of the two linked!

I left all my hats at the beach last year and I do need to have at least one at home. I love a bucket hat because my head is small and they look better on me that a wide brimmed hat! The beach bag is insulated and great for taking sandwiches and drinks to the beach.

And…these things are in my cart as well…

I have an obsession with the candles. I’ve already ordered three of them because they’re are such a great price ($36 I believe)! They have three wicks and smell delicious. I have one in the bedroom, one in the bathroom and one in my closet and I want them all over the house. They smell just as good and are just as pretty as candles that are three times the price! Love it when I find a deal like this!

Headed to the pool to relax a little! I hope you all have a great day! Thanks so much for reading today and I hope you’ve enjoyed this first little glimpse of our new space…more to come very soon!

~XOXO Suzanne
